Block theme for accounting firms, bookkeepers, tax advisers, auditors, financial planners, law offices, insurance brokers and business consultants.

== Description ==

Ledgerly is a full site editing block theme for professional services firms: accountants, bookkeepers, tax advisers, auditors, payroll bureaux, financial planners, law offices, notaries, insurance brokers, management consultants and B2B agencies.

The design is deliberately quiet. A disciplined grid, a strong typographic hierarchy and generous whitespace do the work, with a single accent colour used sparingly. Nothing animates on load, nothing shouts.

Everything is built with core blocks and configured through theme.json, so there is no page builder to learn, no framework CSS and no build step. Fonts are bundled locally, so the theme makes no external requests at all.

Included with the theme:

* Eight core templates plus two custom page templates (no title, and full width).
* Header and footer template parts with a responsive navigation overlay and a widget-style footer.
* Fourteen block patterns covering the sections a professional services site actually needs: two hero layouts, a services grid, a four-step process sequence, a commitments strip, an about section, a team section, testimonials, fee packages, an FAQ built from details blocks, an industries-served grid, a call-to-action banner, a latest-posts section and a presentational contact section with address and opening hours.
* Four style variations: the default navy and teal, Bronze & Charcoal, Evergreen & Amber, and a high-contrast Monochrome.
* Five custom block styles: Card, Rule Top, Checklist, Framed and Short Rule.
* A colour palette, spacing scale, fluid type scale and shadow presets, all editable from the Site Editor.

Ledgerly is built to the accessibility guidelines: every text and background pair in every style variation is tested to at least 4.5:1, focus states are visible on all interactive elements, headings run in order and there is a skip link to the main content. Any transition respects prefers-reduced-motion.

2. Search for Ledgerly, or upload the theme zip file.
3. Click Install, then Activate.

5. To use the landing page layout, create a page, set it as your static front page under Settings > Reading, and the Front Page template will compose the patterns for you.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= How do I edit the home page? =

The home page layout lives in the site template, not in a page, which is how block
themes work. Go to Appearance > Editor > Templates > Front Page and edit any section
there — every heading, image, button and column is a normal block.

The Services, About and Contact pages are ordinary pages: edit them under Pages as
usual. The header and footer are under Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Template Parts,
and colours, fonts and spacing are under Appearance > Editor > Styles. To change the
whole look at once, open Styles and click Browse styles.

= Does the theme include a contact form? =

No. The contact pattern is presentational: it shows your address, opening hours and contact details, plus a placeholder panel where a map can go. Forms are plugin territory, so install a form plugin such as Contact Form 7, WPForms or Gravity Forms and place its block inside the contact section.

= How do I add a map? =

Replace the map placeholder group in the contact pattern with the block supplied by your map plugin, or with a core Embed block. If you would rather not load a third-party script, an image of the surrounding streets works just as well.

= How do I change the colours and fonts? =

Go to Appearance > Editor > Styles. Choose one of the four style variations, or open the palette and typography panels to change individual values. Every colour used by the patterns comes from the palette, so a palette change updates the whole site.

= Where do I edit the header phone number and opening hours? =

Go to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Template Parts > Header. The top utility bar is a normal group of paragraph blocks, so you can edit or delete it.

= How do I remove the theme credit in the footer? =

Go to Appearance > Editor > Patterns > Template Parts > Footer, select the credit paragraph and delete it. It is an ordinary paragraph block with no special behaviour.

= Are the fee figures in the pricing pattern real? =

No. They are illustrative placeholders. Replace them with your own fee structure, or swap the figures for wording such as "on application" if you quote individually.

= The bundled images are abstract graphics. How do I use my own? =

Open the pattern in the Site Editor, select the image and replace it from the media
library, or upload files over assets/images/*.webp using the same filenames. Update each
image's alt text at the same time: the shipped alt text describes the abstract artwork, so
once you swap in a photograph it needs to describe that photograph instead. The team
pattern deliberately ships without portrait photography.

= Does the theme make any external requests? =

No. Fonts are bundled with the theme and served from your own site. Ledgerly loads nothing from a CDN and sends no data anywhere.

= Which blog templates are included? =

Blog Home, Index, Single Post, Archive, Search Results and 404, each with a designed page header, a responsive grid of posts, pagination and threaded comments.

The screenshot is a browser capture of this theme's own front page, rendered with the
images that ship inside this zip and nothing else. It contains no third-party imagery.

How it was made: the bundled images were drawn programmatically by us in Python using
the Pillow imaging library - gradients, geometric shapes and text composited in code.
They are not photographs, not stock images, and were not generated with an AI tool.
They are original work by tanchev.net, dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0 so
there is no ambiguity about redistribution, and equally usable under the theme's GPL.
